Overriding Truth: The one power greater than money in politics is You, The Voter.

The question voters will answer on November 6th: Which of the two candidates will 1) listen to the people in our District , 2) end the gridlock that has made this the worst performing Congress in history, and 3) be a positive force in ensuring the American Dream is attainable by all who work hard and play by the rules?

We cannot allow extremist ideologies and partisan bickering in the House to block progress, stymie growth, and lead the nation to further economic and social stagnation and decline. Lincoln said it: “A House divided against itself cannot stand.”

The United States of America is more than a piece of land, it is a Promise, a promise of freedom, of justice, and of opportunity for all our people.

Why did I enter this race? It's simple. That solemn Promise has not been kept. Mr. Hunter and Congress have failed in their duty and obligations to the people. The Democratic Party offered no candidate. Real Republicans were dismissed. Both parties, it seemed, would simply allow the 32-year-long dynasty of Hunters to continue unchallenged. No. The People in this district expect and deserve a choice, not a coronation. I am a citizen, a working man, a 30-year resident of this district. Like you, I’ve seen the House of Representatives descend into a carnival sideshow, while the nation teeters on the edge of economic and social meltdown. On behalf of the people, I felt compelled to act. I left Superior Court, and though I’ve never coveted nor sought political office, I entered this race.

A Voter Runs For Congress? Yes, and it's about time! It's about representation. It’s about resetting priorities, defending working families who fight the daily battles of survival the privileged only see on television. It’s about defending Medicare and Social Security – not just for today's seniors, but for working people under 55, who know full well it is impossible to raise a family, pay the bills and at the same time fund their own retirement and health insurance. It’s about protecting women’s healthcare rights. It's about protecting ALL of our Constitutional Rights under attack. It's about the need for the total overhaul of the Tax Code, our trade policies, and our corrupt banking system which have combined to decimate the middle class. And above all, it's about building a secure and sustainable future for the children. For it is we, you and I, who must plant the seedlings of trees, whose shade we will never know.

This contest may seem like David vs. Goliath. The odds may seem daunting, but like the biblical David, I run toward Goliath. My faith is in the people. Very often in politics, money talks and the truth walks. Not this time. Special interest money will not decide this race. You will.

Dave Speaks at San Diego Jobless Rally

Story by: East County Magazine

"I left my job to run for Congress - to fight for you - the working men and women who are the true heart and soul of America. Like you, I have known what it is to stand in the unemployment line. I've been without health insurance...Like you, I will not give up. I will not be invisible...All of us, employed and unemployed must make our voices heard, because we have become the new "Silent Majority."
